Modern Requirements for Office
Buildings
Today many businesses are opting to locate in
large office buildings. While a business can
choose just about any location for its
operations, the large office building offers
features that can facilitate the meeting of new
legal and technical requirements. For example,
sufficient light levels are required for
employees or special electrical wiring is needed
for networking. Many other requirements such as
security, safety, and flexibility of layout has
led to the creation of special buildings
dedicated primarily to the provision of office
spaces. An office building of this type is also
called an office block.
The main purpose of a large office building is
to provide a working environment for
administrative and managerial employees. These
employees generally have set areas within the
building and are provided with the desks,
computers, and related equipment needed to do
their work.
An office building may house only one company or
be divided into offices for different companies.
Each company typically has a reception area,
meeting rooms, single or open-plan offices, and
restrooms, as well as kitchen facilities and a
lunch or break room.
